Cape Town - A truck was set alight next to the N2 highway in Cape Town on Friday afternoon.
The cabin and a side panel of the freight truck were destroyed in the blaze.
The Airport Approach road onramp, where the truck had come to a stop, was closed to traffic and at least four police vans were on the scene. More police vehicles lined the highway towards the airport.
At the Borcherds Quarry offramp, police monitored a small group of men.
The provincial police spokesman was not immediately available to comment.
Three trucks were stoned in Cape Town earlier in the week. Another truck was hijacked and set alight near George on Wednesday evening.
It was not clear whether the violence was linked to an ongoing strike by truck drivers. - Sapa
