Truck driver dies in PMB crash

Johannesburg - A truck driver burnt to death and four people were injured when two trucks collided on the N3, in Pietermaritzburg, on Thursday morning, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesman Andre Visser said one of the trucks hit the back of the other on Apples Bend.

“Both trucks then veered off of the highway and down an embankment. The rear truck was transporting a full load of cotton and caught fire shortly after coming to a standstill.” Visser said the truck driver was trapped in the vehicle and died in the fire.

Two of his passengers got out before the truck caught fire and sustained minor injuries. Two passengers in the other truck also sustained minor injuries. Visser said it was not clear what had caused the accident.
