Florida, West Rand - A suspected cable thief suffered a serious electrical shock on Thursday at a power substation in Florida on the West Rand, Johannesburg emergency workers said.

ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said the man was in a critical condition.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man lying on the ground with multiple burns to his body.”

The man was stabilised on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital.
