Six people have died after their vehicles collided head-on on the R503 near Klerksdorp on Saturday evening, paradmedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said the accident occurred about 20km outside off Klerksdorp when a VW Polo and an Audi collided.

“One of the vehicles with five occupants burst into flames on impact, the other wreckage was found a few meters away with the female driver still trapped in the vehicle,” Botha said.

Paramedics worked to treat the victims of the accident but all occupants of both vehicles died on the scene. - Sapa
