King Shaka drug bust nets 2kg of cocaine

Durban - A 31-year-old man was arrested at King Shaka International Airport in Durban for possession of cocaine with a street value of R600 000, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Tuesday.

Captain Thulani Zwane said the man was arrested on Monday.

“The Bolivian man, who was on a flight from Brazil via Dubai, was arrested when he arrived at 5pm.”

Zwane said the police and customs officials had already received information that the drugs were en route to Durban.

“The suspect was identified and intercepted. His luggage was searched and officials found two parcels containing a total 2kg of cocaine with a street value of approximately R600 000.”

He was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs.

He was due to appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. - Sapa
