A man believed to be a wanted criminal was arrested and brought back into South Africa after a year on the run, Mpumalanga police said on Thursday.
Colonel Leonard Hlathi said they found Mvelo Robert Mazibuko, 33, on Wednesday at a hide-out in Mozambique.
“It has been a year since he escaped whilst under police guard at Shongwe Hospital (in Malelane).”
“[He] was detained for a series of crimes including murder, house robberies and car hijacking,” said Hlathi.
Mazibuko would appear in the Nkomazi Magistrate's Court soon, where he would face an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody. - Sapa
