Uitenhage, Eastern Cape - Four people have been arrested for allegedly killing a man during a hijacking in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.
The four, in their 30s, were linked to the killing of the 33-year-old man last week, Warrant Officer Gerda Swart said.
“It is alleged that the suspects got a lift from Siyabolela Lemese, and about 20km outside Queenstown Lemese was shot and left at the side of the road.”
They allegedly stole Lemese's VW Polo and travelled to Port Elizabeth. Acting on a tip-off on Wednesday, police spotted the hijacked vehicle. A car chase and a shootout ensued. One of the alleged hijackers was shot dead, two others ran away, and four were arrested. - Sapa
