Durban - Five men accused of shooting dead an Inkatha Freedom Party supporter appeared in the Durban Regional Court on Thursday.

Bonginhlanhla Gwala, Bhungu Mgezeni Gwala, Mjabulelwa Gwala and Malusi Sibusiso Ncengwa were expected to apply for bail when the State introduced another man allegedly linked to the murder.

Skhumbuzo Nxumalo was arrested on Wednesday in KwaMashu, north of Durban.

The five men were accused of killing Cebesile Shezi.

Shezi, who was wearing an IFP T-shirt, was shot dead near the Thembalihle railway station in KwaMashu shortly after Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa addressed IFP supporters at a sports field in A-section, KwaMashu on October 6.

Magistrate Blessing Msane postponed Nxumalo's case to October 30 for him to obtain legal representation.

The other four would appear in court again on November 7.

The court room was filled to capacity with IFP and National Freedom Party members. - Sapa
