Motor vehicle licence fees will increase by eight percent in the Eastern Cape from July 01, the provincial transport department said on Tuesday.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation had taken over control of increases of fees for things like learners', drivers' and roadworthy tests, it said in a statement.

Personalised number plates and agency fees for registering authorities would however not be increased.

The Eastern Cape had the fourth highest fees in South Africa. - Sapa
