Former Germany captain Michael Ballack has officially ended his footballing career, he said Tuesday via his lawyer.

Berlin – Former Germany captain Michael Ballack has officially ended his footballing career, he said Tuesday via his lawyer.

The 36-year-old had failed to find a new home after a two-year deal ended at Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen in June.

Ballack had 98 caps for his country and scored 42 goals. – Sapa-dpa
