Durban - A man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a 12-year-old girl in his Hillcrest house, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.

“The 44-year-old man appeared in the Pinetown Regional Court on Wednesday,” Captain Thulani Zwane said.

Zwane said the girl was sent by her aunt to give food to the man and clean his house.

While she was cleaning, the man ordered her to fetch a bathing dish in the bedroom.

“When she went to the bedroom the man entered, locked the room and raped her,” he said.

The man gave the girl money and told her not to tell anyone, but she told her sister. - Sapa
